The Therapeutic Massage program is not currently admitting new students. Core massage courses are offered in the afternoon and evenings and many of the general education requirements can be taken online. Interested students should reach out to an advisor in the Health Sciences Office by email at clester@patrickhenry.edu for help with registering for classes.
The P&HCC Therapeutic Massage curriculum is a 3-semester certificate program. A graduate of the program will have demonstrated mastery of generic and specific occupational skills prior to graduation. Skill attainment is assured through regular, valid, and reliable comprehensive assessment. Graduates will be eligible to apply to take the certification examination (MBLEx). After successful passage of this exam, the graduate will be eligible for licensure in Virginia as a Massage Therapist. Massage Therapists are licensed in the state of Virginia by the Virginia State Board of Health Professions.
Licensed graduates with national or state certification can work independently in a variety of healthcare, business, and recreational settings as well as self-employment. Businesses using massage therapists include hotels, cruise ships, hospitals, corporations, physician & chiropractic offices, and many spas or personal wellness agencies.
