The Nurse Aide program prepares a student for entry-level practice in the health care field to provide patient care in a variety of health service facilities. Students learn to care for people of all ages with an emphasis on their special needs. The program includes clinical experience with clients of health care agencies in the community. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to take the Virginia State Board of Nursing Certification Test for Nurse Aides (NNAAP).
What Nurse Aides Do
Nurse aides assist patients with activities of daily living like eating and bathing. They provide basic care for patients in hospitals and residents of assisted living and long-term care facilities.
