Patrick & Henry Community College welcomes senior citizens. In addition to applying for admissions, senior citizens must complete the Senior Citizen Tuition Assistance Agreement form and submit it to the office of the Registrar.
Under the Virginia Senior Citizens Higher Education Act of 1974, those 60 years of age and older may enroll in courses and pay only for service fees, course materials, and lab fees. There is no cost for tuition as long as the student is a legal domiciliary of Virginia and his/her Virginia taxable income does not exceed $23,850.
Senior citizens registering under these provisions must do so on a space-available basis contingent on a minimum of twelve paying students register for the course. This does not apply if the senior citizen has completed 75% of degree requirements at P&HCC.
Unless contacted ahead of time by college staff or faculty, seniors should attend classes until the final determination is made.
