P&HCC’s Racing College of Virginia Returns to ValleyStar Credit Union 300

Patrick & Henry Community College’s (P&HCC) Racing College of Virginia is poised to take on Martinsville Speedway in the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 this weekend with driver Jimmy Mullins. In his second season with the Racing College team, Mullins has shared his expertise from decades of racing experience.

“We’ve learned a lot over the last year, and we’ve built a car for this weekend’s race with that knowledge,” Mullins said, adding, “We’re excited to show what we’ve got.”

Mullins and the Racing College team have been preparing for this weekend’s race in the shop and testing at South Boston Speedway.

“Our students have been part of every stage of preparation for the race. They’re ready to put their work to the ultimate test,” said Racing College instructor Talmage Thomas.

P&HCC is the only racing program in Virginia and one of few nationally that offers two career studies certificates that equate to an associate’s degree. Following their work at Martinsville this weekend, students will be visiting local car shows with their race car and hosting an Open House for the community to visit their race shop on October 22.
